The photograph that was appropriated to create this video is of my grandfather in 1972 in my mother's apartment in Hollywood, CA. In the original photograph he poses next to a television with flowers and phone on top of it, a record player, a shelf with boxed dolls and a classical roman statue. On the television plays the opening sequence of the 1979 Vietnam war movie "Apocalypse Now" that was shot in the Philippines in 1976-1977. Also placed in the photograph is a picture of the Hollywood sign burning and Louis Vuitton luggage sitting in the corner.
